Durban/ Bochum, June 2011 – From May 29 to June 1, 2011 the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association was invited to join the Pharmacy Conference 2011 held at the International Convention Center (ICC) in Durban, South Africa. More than 500 delegates of the entire Commonwealth answered this call. MACH4 Pharma Systems used this opportunity to show an automated pharmacy dispensing system in operation. In addition, the Company’s booth was awarded the bronze medal by the organisation’s committee.
Robot as eye-catcher for a market still in automation infancy
It was not only the position at the entrance of the ICC that drew the attention towards the robot. The majority of pharmacists attending had never seen something like it before. Consequently, the interest was huge – more so when the delegates learned about the huge benefits of an automated pharmacy dispensing system. The pharmacists’ problems are the same in many countries of the world. “This is why MACH4 Pharma Systems has been offering its solutions globally for over 15 years“ explains Dirk Beils, General Manager of MACH4, who attended the Pharmacy Conference in Durban. “Since the start of this year and with the establishment of our own subsidiary, MACH4 Pharmaceutical Systems SA, we have been concentrating on the South African market. Having established a good basis, we wanted to present our system live to the pharmacists “ adds Dirk. This has proven successful. The time and investment required to bring the robot all the way from the German headquarters to South Africa has been worthwhile. MACH4 is excited to start working on the initial projects from the conference. The organisation’s committee also honoured MACH4’s efforts by awarding them third place for the best booth. Given that the two main sponsors of the event received the gold and silver medal, this was a great achievement.
Great concept that deserves acknowledgement for the hosting country
To sum up, MACH4 is looking back on an extremely well-organized event in Durban. "The conference’s topics dealt with the issues we were providing a solution for, so that we could certainly find good approaches. But even outside of the conference halls the organisers came up with a fantastic program, for example a dinner in Africa’s biggest aquarium.
